Weather update
This weekend will be hot! The high for Saturday is forecast at 98F. Please dress comfortably above all else! We'll have lots of water and Bent Oaks has indoor space to cool off. Make sure you stay hydrated on Saturday before you come, and drink plenty of water while you're here!
Places to stay
If you're looking for a hotel, the Hampton Inn and Hotel Roanoke are both located downtown, about a mile or a 20-minute walk from Bent Oaks. There's also the Springhill Suites just over half a mile away. There are also numerous Airbnbs located nearby.
The night before
If you'll be in town Friday, please join us at Big Lick Brewing Co Friday July 28th from 7-9 pm for snacks and beer. We would love to see you before the big day!
Saturday morning shakeout run
7:00am, Bent Oaks Manor
Kelleigh and Brendan will be running to the Roanoke Star on roads and trails on Saturday morning. It'll be a relaxed-pace, fun climb, probably followed by coffee. We'll start at Bent Oaks and run the route pictured below (about 5.75 miles).
Getting to and from Bent Oaks
- If you're driving, parking is available at adjacent businesses CHIP and New Horizons Healthcare by agreement with the venue. There will be signs posted out front (on Franklin road) and nearby to indicate where to go - look for signs labeled "Event Parking".
- The bus route between Third Street Station (the bus terminal downtown) and Tanglewood Mall runs down Franklin Road past Bent Oaks. It's an option for getting there, but service ends at 8:00 or 8:20pm, so if you plan to stay you'll need an alternate way home.
- A nice walk home on a summer evening is always a great choice, especially if you're staying relatively close! This is my preferred option.
- Roanoke has scooters from Lime and Spin, a good option if you aren't going far.
- Ride hailing services like Uber should be relatively easy to obtain on Saturday evening.
Food
Our wedding will have a fully vegan menu! We are excited to share some of our favorite dishes with you. We will be serving beer, wine, and soft drinks.
Registry
We are honored and grateful that you are traveling to Roanoke to spend this special day with us. Just being at our wedding is a huge gift to us! Since we have been living together for a few years, we have decided not to have a traditional registry as our needs are more than met by what we own.
While you're in town
Check out downtownroanoke.org for restaurants, shopping, and things to do. We love visiting the Mill Mountain Star and exploring the Mill Mountain trails. You can also rent bikes from Roanoke Mountain Adventures and explore the Roanoke River Greenway.
